Tetracycline staining

During the 60's scientists discovered the effects these medicines might have over the teeth's colour.

The dying through tetracyclines depends on:

• The type of tetracycline administered
• The period in which the antibiotic was used
• And the state of development of the teeth (The critical period lies between the pregnancy and the 8th year of life)

The tetracycline molecules become attached to the dentin during its formation. When teeth are exposed to direct sunlight, the colouring is even more intense, showing yellow, brown or grey coloured teeth.
